Ummmm….. a booty butter…. is that a thing?
Yes, Yes it is.
This Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream has been surrounded with hype all over the internet this past year. (FYI It’s pronounced Boom Boom in case you were wondering) Take it from me as I learned the hard way by going into Sephora and asking for the bum cream. *forehead slap*
The rave reviews claim a scent so amazing you’ll think you are on a tropical vacation along with the ability to firm and tighten areas which may have cellulite or dimples. A booty butter taking a dimply derriere to a lesser version of itself? Needles to say, I was intrigued but with a price tag of $45 for 8oz of lotion, I was hesitant.
I decided to cave and picked one up with extremely high expectations. All it took was one application of this body and booty butter and let me tell you – this has become one of my HOLY GRAIL staples!
DID THE BUM BUM CREAM WORK?
First things first, this is not your normal body butter. When you apply it, it has a pillow-y texture, and it melts beautifully into your skin leaving a dewy and silky finish. We have all applied those body butters which leave a layer so thick on your skin you are afraid to sit down anywhere with the fear of leaving a grease stain behind. That fear is non-existent with this cream my friends!
It leaves you feeling completely moisturized for hours on end without left over residue. It also gives you the the slightest sheen which not only makes your skin feel velvety, but it looks like it too.
After using this booty cream for just a few days I definitely noticed a difference. I didn’t notice too much of the tightening properties but the overall texture to my skin was absolutely smoother. My skin leans towards the dry end of the spectrum and I recognized my need to reach for lotion had in fact decreased.
SO..... WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE?
All the reviewers were not exaggerating when they said the scent is out of this world AMAZING! Just taking the lid off truly takes you to vacation mode.
It smells like a vanilla bean and a pistachio had a baby and then lit a Palo Santo candle to celebrate. The scent lingers on your skin for hours. I am not kidding when I say every time I wear this out somewhere a stranger asks me what scent I am wearing.
After reviewing the packaging I’m not surprised by the scent or the moisture offered by this cream. It is packed full of several tropical ingredients which makes sense considering it was created in Brazil.
It’s a blend of coconut oil, Cupuaçu butter, antioxidants from Amazonian fruit like acai and guarana. Guarana extract is one of the star ingredients as it contains five times the amount of caffeine as coffee and is the Bum Bum Cream’s main firming agent. Cupuaçu butter is full of fatty acids and this helps to lock in the moisture.
It’s recommend to be applied in circular motions to stimulate circulation in the areas you are hoping to firm up like your bum, thighs, arms, or anywhere else you choose!
IS THE SOL de JANEIRO BOOTY BUTTER WORTH IT?
Simply put YES.
Several of the reviewers say they purchase this cream for the firming properties alone and while I can’t say I’ve noticed it has wiped away any of my own dimples, that is not the reason I keep repurchasing it. I love the hydration it gives without feeling heavy on my skin and making me break out from clogged pores which has happened from other body butter brands.
Even though this tub is $45 it lasts me about three months with frequent liberal whole body applications. A little goes a long way and I do feel like it’s worth the money. They sell a smaller 2.5oz tub for only $20 if you wanted to test the waters before committing to the larger size.
If you are on the hunt for a body or booty butter with a lasting scent and high moisturizing properties, buy the Bum Bum Cream. Trust me!
